Heading Into August

Our most recent round of negotiations focused significantly on faculty workload. We have put together several related proposals aimed at providing faculty relief from the increasing demands placed on us by the administration and by the pandemic. These proposals include: 
  • Reduction of instructional load to 18 credit hours per year.
  • Appropriate procedures for setting course caps and minimums.
  • New procedures for release time related to research and development. 
  • Adequate release time and compensation for chairs. 
  • Increased pay for overloads. 
We understand your hard work and dedication and the sacrifices you made over the last year. Unfortunately, it seems that some in the administration are much less sympathetic. Indeed, one of their team went so far as to insist that chair workload has actually decreased over the last few years. Disregard of the hard work of faculty is not the stuff from which a university is made. A faculty united in solidarity most certainly is.

I leave you with the following call to action: Reach out to a colleague who isn't a member of the Union and urge them to join.
